About Aluih Sumatera
Aluih Sumatera is an Indonesian clothing label dedicated to the contemporary reinterpretation of the Kebaya Panjang Sumatera. Founded by six friends from West Sumatra, we believe the kebaya belongs in everyday life, not only in ceremony. The name “aluih” comes from the Minang language, meaning refined and gentle. That spirit guides everything we make.
Aluih Sumatera is made for modern Indonesian women who carry their Sumatran heritage with pride. Whether you grew up wearing kebaya or are discovering it for the first time, our pieces are designed to fit naturally into your life. You should not need a special occasion to wear something this meaningful.
We focus specifically on the Kebaya Panjang Sumatera, a silhouette rooted in West Sumatran tradition that has been slowly fading from daily life. Rather than repositioning it as eveningwear or costume, we return it to where it began: as a wearable, versatile garment for the modern Indonesian woman. Our designs are clean, intentional, and built for multi-styling across different moments in your day.
Our pieces are crafted in Indonesia, with careful attention to fabric quality and garment construction. We work with makers who understand the cultural weight of what we are producing and treat each piece accordingly. Details on production and materials are included with each product listing.
Orders and Shipping
Browse our collection and select your size and preferred piece. Add it to your cart and proceed to checkout. We accept payment via transfer bank, QRIS, and major debit or credit cards. Once your order is confirmed, you will receive an email with your order details and estimated delivery timeline.
Orders within Indonesia are typically processed within 2 to 3 working days and delivered within 3 to 7 working days depending on your location. Expedited shipping options are available at checkout. We will send you a tracking number once your order has been dispatched so you can follow its journey to you.
We currently ship within Indonesia. International shipping is something we are actively working toward. If you are based outside Indonesia and would like to be notified when international shipping becomes available, please sign up for our newsletter or send us a message at info@aluih.id.
We begin processing orders quickly, so changes or cancellations need to be requested within 12 hours of placing your order. Please contact us as soon as possible at info@aluih.id with your order number. Once an order has been dispatched, we are unable to make changes, but our returns policy will apply.
Sizing and Care
Each product page includes a detailed size guide with measurements for bust, waist, hips, and length. We recommend measuring yourself and comparing against the guide rather than going by your usual size, as our silhouettes are tailored to specific proportions. Our kebaya pieces are made from fabrics that deserve gentle handling. We recommend hand washing in cold water with a mild detergent, or dry cleaning for best results. Avoid wringing or machine washing. To store, hang your piece or fold it carefully to preserve the silhouette. Detailed care instructions are printed on the label of each garment.
If your piece does not fit as expected, please contact us within 7 days of receiving your order. We will do our best to arrange an exchange for the correct size, subject to availability. Items must be unworn, unwashed, and in their original condition with tags attached. Please refer to our full Returns and Exchanges policy below for more details.

5. Returns and Exchanges
We accept exchange requests within 7 days of delivery for items that are unworn, unwashed, and in original condition with tags attached. We do not offer refunds unless the item received is defective or significantly different from what was described.
